The Spirit: Reclaiming the Garage
Boreacore is rooted in a simple conviction: the world has plenty of subscription software, corporate conveyor belts, and slide decks. What we lost along the way was the daring, playful spirit of the early hardware pioneers, the 80s and 90s garage culture where people built physical things out of pure curiosity, learned fearlessly by burning through components, and actually had fun doing it.
Everything is not about maximizing quarterly profits. Never sacrifice your creativity or yourself to the mold. True innovation starts on a bench with a soldering iron, a multimeter, and an obsession with understanding how the physical world works at the silicon layer.
What is Boreacore?
Borea (Aurora Borealis · Northern nature & resilience) + Core (Silicon · compute, architecture & precision).
Boreacore is an independent hardware lab and a call to arms based in Tampere, Finland. It is an exploration of physical computing, sensor fusion, and embedded systems built to survive and operate in the real world, free from centralized cloud leashes.
On The Bench Right Now
No stealth mode, no vaporware. Real work in progress:
- Sensor Fusion & Thermal Imaging: Interfacing thermopile sensor arrays, parsing raw thermal data matrices, and driving real-time TFT displays from custom 4-layer boards.
- Custom PCB Prototyping: Designing, laying out, and bringing up dedicated hardware platforms and handheld consoles from scratch.
- Bench Diagnostics: Hunting down solder bridges, signal integrity bugs, and continuity quirks with a multimeter, probe by probe.
Looking for Fellow Rebels
In the end, no one can change the world completely alone. But a determined, rebellious team can. I am starting this journey solo on the workbench, but my goal is to bring together the right souls to co-create something special: taking something of the old, fearless spirit, igniting it, and blending it with modern technology.
If you are an engineer, hacker, tinkerer, or kindred spirit who wants to build tangible deep-tech hardware instead of just talking about it, let's connect.
